A Product Video Pitch

While working on another project, I became an avid user of the Elgato Stream Deck. However, I really missed having an add-on with large, smooth dials—something like the ones on the Blackmagic Editor’s Keyboard. I decided to create a product pitch video as an excuse to jump back into After Effects and try out some new techniques I’d been meaning to experiment with—but never really had a reason to. So, I made one!

Behind the scenes

I tried combining a low-frame-rate animation style with the standard 29 fps look commonly used in product render videos. I got the idea of blending frame rates from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and wanted to see if I could make it work. For the low-frame-rate sections, I kept things simple and gritty—a black and white palette, line art, rough textures, and a few overlay details. I really dig how it turned out!

Mood Board:

As for the 3D scenes, I modelled the product and set up the shoot in Cinema 4D. I’d never really done animation before, since most of my 3D work has been static renders for product ads—but I decided to give it a shot. I know the animations could use a bit more polish, but for now, this was enough to showcase the concept. Here are a few pre-viz from the product reveal.
