October 1, 2017Sepulcra Font
While working on some non-design project and listening to some heavy metal tunes, when a sepultura track came up and checking the album artwork the famous “S” popped up. I wonder what the letter “A” will look like with the same style. I quickly sketched one, and after that I ended up sketching the whole alphabet. The sepulcra font was born.

Sepulcra-Regular
Once I had all the alphabet sketched, I moved quickly to vectorize the glyphs. Full disclosure; This was all done in the first take, I never spent time on refining the sketches. This was never intended for a body text font, The idea from the beginning was to use one letter for a tattoo or a t-shirt print out, so there was not too much care about adequate font line height, legibility in a body of text, etc. This was just an exercise to create a badass heavy metal font with a Sepultura logo vibe.
If you want it, you can download a copy for free here. I have received a lot of questions about licensing the font for logotype for heavy metals bands. Bros!... everyone can use the font for free!

Sepulcra font extended family.
Included in the font file I added some bonus glyphs of some future variants of the font. Sepulutura has a bunch of albums and I can not stop wondering how an alphabet will look with the theme of some of the albums. If you feel generous, I would appreciate it if you help with a small donation for some caffeine intake in aiding the development of the sepulcra font variants.
Sepulcra-Root
Following the Roots album vibe I created a style candidate channeling the Amazonian rhythms that’s present across the album

Sepulcra-Dante
Another design channeling the album artwork from the Dante album of some medieval wood lithography print.
